UPDATE: Tornado Warning Issued For Cleveland County

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Cleveland County until 6:15 p.m.

The Norman Forecast Office says severe thunderstorms are possible until midnight, with hail up to the size of baseballs and 70-mile-per-hour wind gusts as the main threats with some of the stronger storms.

Tornadoes are also possible, especially in the area from north of Oklahoma City to Medford and Ponca City.

OK Receives "A" in Election Money Transparency

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma has received a grade of ``A'' from a national nonprofit group for its disclosure laws about how independent groups spend money to influence voting for certain candidates.

Oklahoma was one of 15 states to receive the top grade in the analysis released Thursday by the National Institute on Money in State Politics.

African-American Judges Honored By State Senate

Four groundbreaking African-American judges have been honored by the Oklahoma Senate.

The Senate on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution honoring U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange, Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Tom Colbert, Court of Criminal Appeals Judge David Lewis and Tulsa County District Court Judge Carlos Chappelle.

Miles-LaGrange was the first African-American elected chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma in 2008.

The twister that ripped through the town of Granbury, Tex.  Wednesday night killed at least six people and injured dozens of others.

The National Weather Service classified the deadly Texas twister as a powerful EF4, with winds up to 200 miles-per-hour.

University of Oklahoma meteorology student Paige Burress captured video of the tornado for the weather blog Texas Storm Chasers. She told Here & Now host Robin Young it was a "sobering experience."

Oklahoma’s Response To Manmade Quakes Is More Passive Than Other States

A number of seismologists have concluded that the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit near Prague a year and a half ago was caused by injecting wastewater from oil and gas production deep underground.

Earthquakes in other states have been linked to disposal wells, but Oklahoma’s is the largest. Yet Oklahoma’s regulatory response has been one of the smallest.

Seismologists have linked wastewater disposal wells to earthquakes in at least a half-dozen states. On a geologic scale, the tremors are small. And the quakes — in states like Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, and Ohio — have all been smaller than the November 2011 quake that shook Oklahoma near Prague.

"A massive emergency response" is underway in North Texas, where tornadoes blew through Wednesday night, The Dallas Morning News says. A twister that hit Granbury, about 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth, left at least six people dead, more than 100 injured and even more homeless, The Associated Press adds.
