Oklahoma continues to be major agricultural producer, with large fields of waving wheat and pastures of grazing cattle serving as icons of the business. But the agriculture industry is now cultivating a new crop, tourists. This week KGOU looks at this agritourism trend. We begin with Susan Shannon's report on Redlands Community College and its program to train workers for the wine industry.

As Oklahoma Voices continues to focus on education this month, we present an audio rebroadcast of a recent episode of OETA's Oklahoma Forum examining State Question 744. The constitutional amendment will be on the ballot in November, and would increase per-pupil funding in Oklahoma to at least the average of neighboring states. Host Dick Pryor talks with Peter J. Rudy of Oklahomans for Responsible Government and the creator of stop744.com, and Associate Executive Director of the Oklahoma Education Agency Joel Robison, who is also involved with yeson744.com.

With regular World Views panelist Mike Boettcher on assignment for ABC News in Afghanistan, host Zach Messitte is joined by his colleagues Mark Frazier and Suzette Grillot to discuss President Obama's announcement of the end of combat operations in Iraq, and North Korean President Kim Jong Il's secret visit to China. And University of Oklahoma College of Law Professor Lindsay Robertson joins Zach and Suzette to discuss legal issues facing indigenous peoples around the world.

This week on Indian Times, the Jacobson House Native Art Center in Norman is opening a new exhibit featuring the work of a little known Mexican genius, the late Emilio Amero. Dr. Andrew Phelan stopped by the KGOU studios to talk about the former OU professor and his book on Amero’s life “El Rio Sin Tacto” (The Touchless River). An opening reception and book signing will happen this Friday at the Jacobson House. For more information call 366-1667.
