In the three final decades of the 20th century, and into the 21st, as indigenous people began to gain control over film and video, technologies of representation which had long objectified them, a series of debates emerged around this work, which both challenged and celebrated these new developments. Now, as indigenous people are regularly showing feature films at major film festivals, and starting their own national television networks and web portals, the debates have moved on. This talk addresses this history of debates and the current issues that are shaping contemporary indigenous work.

What to do.... home damageThursday March 11
Following are some guidelines from Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland to help you deal with a damage to your home. If you decide to file a claim, call your insurance company or agent with your policy number and other relevant information as soon as possible. Cooperate fully with the insurance company, and ask what documents, forms and data you will need. Take photographs/video of the damage. Make the repairs necessary to prevent further damage to your property (i.e., cover broken windows, leaking roofs and damaged walls). Do not have permanent repairs made until your insurance company has inspected the property and you have reached an agreement on the cost of repairs. Save all receipts, including those from the temporary repairs covered by your insurance policy. If your home is damaged to the extent that you cannot live there, ask your insurance company if you have coverage for additional living expenses incurred while repairs are being made. Save all receipts to document these costs. The following events are typically not covered by the standard homeowners insurance policy: Interior water damage from a storm, when there is no damage to the roof or walls of your home. Damage as the result of a flood. Removal of fallen trees (if the trees do not land on and damage your home). Food spoilage due to a power outage. Water damage from backed-up drains or sewers. Contact the Oklahoma Insurance Department If you have a concern or question about your insurance or a complaint, please contact the Oklahoma Insurance Department's Consumer Hotline at http://www.oid.ok.gov or (800) 522-0071.

Red Earth Group (Sierra Club) Drinking ClubThursday March 18

We just want to get to know everyone in a completely informal and casual setting. The meetings will take place on every third Thursday of the month (more to be added later if that is needed). The second meeting of the REG Drinking Club will take place this month on March 18th at 7:00 pm at Coach's (1o2 W. Main St.) in Downtown Norman. (Coach's) Coach's has been a gracious host of REG events in the past. It is located right across the railroad tracks from the Santa Fe Depot, where we have our monthly meetings. We also didn't decide on a name. So, we will also be deciding on a name for the club. First entry is "Thirsty Third Thursday." So bring your friends (of legal age only please) and your thinking caps and enjoy some social time with the REG Drinking Club.
