This is a dedicated capital campaign specifically for replacement of KGOU's Oklahoma County transmitter (105.7 FM, licensed as KROU). We estimate the transmitter and related equipment will cost $75,000.
KGOU expanded service to Oklahoma County in 1993 when KROU signed on the air, greatly increasing the broadcast service area. The transmitter is now 23 years old, nearing the end of its lifespan. The antenna was replaced in 2011.
We've named this campaign Karen's Legacy, a fundraising effort retiring General Manager Karen Holp initiated. We hope to have funds raised by spring 2017 to purchase the new equipment.
