KGOU General Manager - Karen Holp

The spring membership drive will begin on March 28 and the fundraising goal is $160,000.

But there is an even larger challenge at hand. How many days can we stamp out in advance?

Since January 1, enough donations have come in to stamp out two days of a normal 7-day drive. We would like to raise enough before March 28 to stamp out 2 or 3 or 4 more days!

It takes about $23,000 to stamp out a day of the drive. Your renewal by mail will count toward the spring goal, so find that renewal notice and mail it back. Your new membership will count toward the spring goal, so go to our secure online pledge form and make your pledge of support.

You may be wondering how we set our fundraising goals, so here's the explanation: For this fiscal year, which began last July, we determined we would need to raise about $557,000 in private donations.

Of that total, about 32%, or about $180,000, will come in the form of underwriting from businesses in central Oklahoma.

That leaves about 68%, or about $380,000, needed in support from listeners. We raised over half of that in the first six months of the fiscal year – nearly $196,000. Last fall's on-air membership drive brought in nearly $160,000, leaving another $36,000 that came in just after the drive.

That is why we’ve set the spring 2009 on-air membership drive goal at $160,000. That figure represents the lion's share of the $184,000 total we need to raise before June 30 when the fiscal year ends. We are confident that it can be done!

Thank you so very much for your support.

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.
