Alamo And River Walk Vie To Be Top Tourist Attraction In San Antonio

San Antonio is home to two important tourist attractions – the Alamo and the River Walk – which are in competition for the top tourist destination in Texas.

Bruce Winders, curator and historian at the Alamo, reminds Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson about the battle that took place at the Alamo almost 180 years ago, and explains why it has become an important symbol in Texas.

Hobson also walks along the River Walk with Lewis F. Fisher, author of “American Venice: The Epic Story of San Antonio’s River,” to hear about the park’s history.

Guests

  • Bruce Winders, curator and historian at the Alamo.
  • Lewis F. Fisher, author of books including “American Venice: The Epic Story of San Antonio’s River” and founder of Maverick Publishing Company.
