The Best Journalism Happens With Your Support

Karen Holp holds sign that reads, "I listen, I support KGOU."
KGOU

March 20, 2016

This is from the Manager's Desk.

An essential part of KGOU’s programming includes the semi-annual membership drives. That funding is vital to our ability to deliver in-depth news and information in our broadcast and digital services.

Quality journalism is an important part of the democratic process, and we at KGOU, along with NPR, strive to contribute to an informed electorate. News about the candidates, issues and campaigns will help us make our own individual choices in the voting booth.

Because election coverage has been ubiquitous we are going to have our own on-air “debate” about strategies on fundraising from a couple of candidates who can at least agree on supporting KGOU.

Our purpose is to remind you in a lighthearted way that listener support is critical to the serious work of covering elections and other news of the day. And it’s a reminder that we need to have a little fun on the air, too.

I hope you’ll support us in this fundraising campaign. Thanks!

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield. She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1979 to become General Manager of KRWG-FM.
