The Cherokee Nation is donating about $200,000 to be spread among eight Boys and Girls clubs in Oklahoma.
The tribe announced the donation Thursday. Different monetary awards were donated to the Boys and Girls club programs in Adair County, Bartlesville, Chelsea, Tahlequah, Delaware County, Green Country-Pryor, Nowata and Sequoyah County.
The Boys and Girls Club in Tahlequah, which has the highest number of participants, received the highest gift at $80,526.
According to officials, almost 11,000 students participate in the Boys and girls Club programs among the eight groups. The Cherokee Nation says it has donated more than $480,000 to the Cherokee County Boys and Girls Club and has contributed nearly $1.7 million in total to help the eight clubs since 2008.
