DEQ Unveils Tool To Track Chemical Storage Sites

Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality
Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is unveiling a new online tool for the public to locate chemical storage sites.

Using the new tool, residents can find oil and gas wells, cell towers that have large acid batteries, water plants, manufacturing facilities and other sites that are required to report storage information to DEQ.

Not every facility that stores chemicals is required to report to DEQ.

DEQ collects information on about 50,000 chemical storage locations in Oklahoma under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.

The information is provided to first responders in every county for use in emergency planning, management and response.

Residents can look up specific locations and request chemical information by filling out an online form and submitting it to DEQ.
