Entertaining the Hours of Your Week: Halloween Horrors and Highlights

Halloween activities are our focus this week, and whether you want a family friendly tick-or-treating event, Halloween arts and crafts or Halloween-themed performances, this week’s OneSix8 has an option for you.

The spooky Peanut’s classic The Great Pumpkin comes to life on Halloween from noon to 8 p.m. at the Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City.

The famous Peanuts Characters: Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Sally and Lucy will all attend for picture taking. They join guests, adults and kids alike in Halloween crafts, a costume parade and trick-or-treating.

A late night Halloween event to consider is the performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Sooner Theatre in Norman from 10 to 12 p.m. The traditional Halloween movie is performed with a twist.

Guests are invited to come in costume and ready for a chance to join the cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Prop bags will even be available at the door, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. Tickets are $10 and tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

If you are looking to continue the festivities beyond All Hallow's Eve, the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art hosts the Day of the Dead Street festival from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, November 1. This celebration includes music, food and art.

The Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los Muertos is a Hispanic holiday that celebrates the lives of those who have passed. Traditional celebrations include remembrance alters, liver performances and hands-on art activities.

Looking for more frightening festivities?

The Memorial Presbyterian Church hosts,“Trunk or Treat” this Thursday from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. for children in the Norman Community, as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating.

The Art of Masks and Masks as Arttakes place Friday, November 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Edmond Library. Participants learn how to make masks.

And the Downtown Library hosts a Dia de los Muertoscelebration November 1 from noon to 1 p.m. Guests celebrate Hispanic music and learn about the holiday.
