This is from the Manager's Desk.

Something wonderful happened for KGOU a few weeks ago, and it is a first for KGOU!

Longtime KGOU listener and supporter Marilyn Nicely set up a future endowment through a planned gift to benefit KGOU. Marilyn retired from the University of Oklahoma and wanted to show, in an enduring way, her love for OU and her appreciation for KGOU.

So Marilyn signed documents for a planned gift where a portion of her estate will be endowed at the University of Oklahoma Foundation, and the interest earned on that endowment will benefit KGOU each year. These are the first official papers we have ever received to establish a future endowment for KGOU.

Marilyn says her decision was driven by KGOU’s programming. "The fact that KGOU covers the world -- there isn't any other news organization that I can think of that I can listen to all day long, where that's a possibility. This planned gift is a way to keep giving, after I can no longer write a check."

Thank you, Marilyn, for your generosity and vision that will help KGOU for years to come.

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield. She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1979 to become General Manager of KRWG-FM.
