The former chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party has been put on five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony cocaine possession.

High-profile lobbyist Chad Alexander also pleaded guilty this week to illegally possessing pain pills without a prescription and obstructing a police officer.

The Oklahoman newspaper reports Alexander agreed to pay $500 in fines, $500 to a victims' fund and complete 40 hours of community service.

Alexander was arrested in May after a traffic stop in northwest Oklahoma City. According to a police report, officers found more than three grams of cocaine and nine prescription pills inside a 2014 Mercedes that Alexander was driving.
