Muscogee Creek Nation To Open New Food Distribution Center

Muscogee Creek Nation

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is breaking ground on a new 7,900-square-foot food distribution center in Coweta.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the construction site next to the Coweta Indian Health Center.

The Koweta Food Distribution Center will serve more than 300 tribal citizens in need of nutritional assistance. The program services low-income Native American households and is an alternative for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

This will be the tribe's third food distribution center. The other two are located in Okmulgee and Wetumka.
