The Citizen Potawatomi Nationis looking to expand its business enterprises by adding on a hotel to the Grand Casino. And the by-product of this expansion is jobs.

In addition to preparing for the opening of the Grand Casino Hotel and Resort, Paul Vanraamsdonk, Director of hotel operations, says the tribe is planning a job fair to fill those positions.

Vanraamsdonk says they’re excited by the prospect of hiring one hundred new employees, with job openings for everything from front desk clerks to valet to supervisory positions.  The job fair will be May 15th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel and Reed Conference Center in Midwest City.

“We encourage everyone to go on www.firelakesjob.comand fill out an online application first,” Vanraamsdonk said. If applicants are unable to go online, applications will be available at the job fair.

There is a native preference for the jobs, but Vanraamsdonk said they welcome all applicants and won’t show favoritism.

The new hotel is following the Las Vegas example of being a 24 hour operation with 24 hour room service and restaurants.

“I think it’s going to be a great addition to the area, over here near Shawnee,” Vanraamsdonk said.  He went on to say that this type of enterprise is valuable to the whole community by bringing in more visitors that may want to check out other entertainment in the area such as the Firelake Golf Course.

A 2500 seat event center is being built between the casino and the hotel. Vanraamsdonk said it will be state of the art.  The grand opening of all new facilities is in the fall but the hotel opens June 20th.
