Oklahoma Engaged is a multi-platform project focused on election coverage. As a public service journalism collaboration of KGOU, KOSU, KWGS, KCCU, and StateImpact Oklahoma, the reporting includes community stories, audio reports, snapshots, state question breakdowns, profiles, videos, and more. Major support is provided by the Inasmuch Foundation, the Kirkpatrick Foundation, and Oklahoma Humanities.

Oklahoma Engaged Seeks Voter Input for Election Reporting

This is the Manager’s Minute.

2018 is a monumental election year in Oklahoma. All statewide offices, including governor, are on the ballot, along with judicial, legislative and congressional races.

With so many issues facing the state, interest is high – and we’re meeting that demand with an ambitious and innovative plan for election coverage.

KGOU and StateImpact Oklahoma, along with our public radio partners, KOSU, KWGS, and KCCU have launched Oklahoma Engaged: Project Public Office.

With funding from the Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Foundation and the Kirkpatrick Foundation – we’re taking a new, people-centered approach. We’re reaching out to voters and focusing on stories about issues important to them and their communities, with less emphasis on politicians and the horse race.

So, between now and Election Day, keep listening for in-depth Oklahoma Engaged reports with additional resources online, at oklahomaengaged.com.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
