As KGOU and KOSU began crafting ideas for our collaborative election project Oklahoma Engaged, we were interested in several forms of storytelling. This included informative and in-depth radio stories and video profiles of folks in a south Oklahoma City district.
In this video, lifelong resident Don Graham describes 30 years of changes he's seen in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. But he says the values of the working-class area have remained consistent - hard work and taking care of their homes and families.
Graham also describes the importance of civic participation, and says voting allows people to be involved in their community and have a voice in the political process.
Oklahoma Engaged is a collaborative series between KGOU and KOSU, with support from the Kirkpatrick Foundation. You can find more and follow along at OklahomaEngaged.com.
