Pruitt Designates "Sexual Assault Awareness Month"

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and helping to honor those fighting on behalf of victims.

Pruitt held a press conference Monday and helped honor two Oklahomans for their work to help victims of sexual assault.

The owner of the Oklahoma City Barons hockey team, Bob Funk, Jr., was honored with the Visionary Voice award for his advocacy work. The team is donating a portion of its April ticket sales to sexual assault prevention programs and is wearing teal ribbons on their helmets to promote awareness.

Also honored was Deana Franke, who received the inaugural Deana Franke Moving Upstream Award for her work as the longtime director of Help-in-Crisis, a crisis intervention program dedicated to end family violence, child abuse and sexual assault.
