The American Red Cross is encouraging Oklahoma residents to participate in the Great Central ShakeOut Earthquake Drill so people can learn and practice what to do if they ever experience an earthquake.

Millions of people across the country and around the world will be participating in Thursday's drill.

Regional Red Cross CEO Janienne Bella says with the increase in earthquakes in Oklahoma in recent years, it's essential that people take proper steps to prepare a safety plan.

People can participate by registering onlineand practice themselves or with others wherever they happen to be at the time.
