#SupportKGOU

I listen, I support KGOU

October 18, 2014

Song: Crystal Gayle's "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue"

This is from the Manager’s Desk.

No, no, no, my brown eyes are not blue. It does matter that we didn’t make the goal for the fall membership drive. But, we did raise over $191,000 in pledges of support!

And that's close. Close enough that I know the pledges coming in during the next several weeks will cover the gap and more.

A friend left a message on my phone last Friday saying she couldn't pledge now, was going out of town, and would call me in ten days.

That works for me, and for KGOU.

Thank you to the more than 1100 individuals and families that called in to make a financial contribution to KGOU.

Thanks to the many volunteers who answered the phone -- some of whom agreed to have their photos posted on the KGOU Facebook page.

Thanks to the the food donors: Sooner Legends, Ingrid's Kitchen, Gaberinos and McNellies. They kept the volunteers and staff well fed as we all spent long hours in Membership Central.

And, my thanks to the KGOUstafffor yet another inspiring membership drive. These people are dedicated, professional, and take responsibility. Even more, each one has a great sense of humor and cooperation. From the staff you hear on the air regularly to the ones behind the scenes that keep things moving, each one is a treasure.

Thanks!

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

P.S. Keep the #SupportKGOU effort going!

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield.
