Meteorlogits and researchers upgraded the El Reno tornado on May 31 as an EF5 and the widest tornado ever recorded.

This week, I’m inviting you to an important public forum about tornado preparedness and storm safety on Wednesday, March 12 at the Moore Public Library.

You’ve heard KGOU's special reporting project that is funded by CPB -- Ahead of the Storm: The Oklahoma Tornado Project. This public meeting is part of this project.

Scheduled panelists include:

Rick Smith, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service's Norman Forecast Office.

Harold Brooks, a researcher at NOAA's National Severe Storms Laboratory.

And MichelannOoten from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management.

That’s a public forum on tornado safety on Wednesday, March 12 at the Moore Public Library in Room A -- from 7 to 8:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.
