Tulsa is joining a national campaign that aims to educate people about the dangers of texting while driving.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett is to kick off the It Can Wait Tulsa campaign Thursday at City Hall. He'll be joined by AT&T Oklahoma President Bryan Gonterman.
The announcement coincides with the campaign's Drive4Pledges Day, an effort to gather pledges from people nationwide stating that they will not text while behind the wheel.
The national It Can Wait movement is headed by the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon companies.
Thursday's announcement in Tulsa will be among more than 200 campaign events planned across the country.
