Oklahoma Employment Security Commission’s (OESC) Director of Research and Analysis Lynn Gray stated that there is much good news to report regarding the 2014 Oklahoma Economic Report at a commission meeting on Tuesday.
Oklahoma’s unemployment rate in 2014 is 4.5 percent, approximately 81,170 people. This shows a significant decline in comparison to last year where the unemployment rate was at 5.6 percent, approximately 101,480 people. The national unemployment rate is currently at 5.8 percent.
Initial claims for unemployment insurance continue to decline with the unemployment average.
“We do have nice employment growth, especially compared to the nation as a whole,” said Gray. “Conditions continue to improve and are almost back to where they were [before the recession].”
