The University of Oklahoma has been awarded a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The grant was awarded through NASA's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research to help further the agency's mission.

The grant will fund three years of research involving energy production and life support in the long-range exploration of space.

Congressman Tom Cole says the grant will secure the University of Oklahoma as one of the hubs for NASA research over the next three years and solidifies that there is exceptional talent in Oklahoma.

A member of the House Committee on Appropriations, Cole recently helped prevent passage of an amendment to an appropriations bill that would decrease funding for the program. He also worked to ensure full funding for the program in the America COMPETES Act.
