One of the plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit for the right to marry in Oklahoma is heralding the decision by a federal appeals court finding Utah's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional.
Wednesday's decision from a three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that struck down Utah's gay marriage ban. The panel immediately put on the ruling on hold so it could be appealed, either to the entire 10th Circuit or directly to the nation's highest court.
Sharon Baldwin and Mary Bishop sued for the right to marry in Oklahoma. The same three-judge panel that heard the Utah case heard their case.
They are still awaiting a ruling in their case.
Baldwin said they are "thrilled" for the plaintiffs in the Utah case.
