GRDA And Gov. Fallin Make Nice As Plans For New Natural Gas Plant Move Forward

The summer was tough on the Grand River Dam Authority’s relationship with Gov. Mary Fallin.

It started when the GRDA announced plans earlier this year to spend almost $400 million to build a new natural gas power plant, and upgrade its newest coal-fired plant in compliance with new federal regulations.

Grand Lake Level To Drop In August

Federal regulators have turned down a request to keep the water level up at Grand Lake through the Labor Day holiday.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission told the Grand River Dam Authority that a three-foot drawdown scheduled for August will go on as planned.

The Tulsa World reports that landowners and businesses wanted the lake level to stay up through Labor Day weekend so more people can use the lake.
