Saying that the goal is to balance its budget in fiscal year 2015, NPR announced late Friday morning that it will soon offer "a voluntary buyout plan across the organization that reduces staffing levels by approximately 10 percent."

There were 333,000 first-time claims for unemployment insurance last week, the Employment and Training Administration says. Claims were up 1.5 percent from the previous week's 328,000 — and basically remained at the lower end of the range where they've stayed for the better part of the last two years.
The state's two largest metropolitan areas, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, also showed an increase in the unemployment rate. Oklahoma City retains its second place spot as one of the nation's largest metro areas with low unemployment. The OKC area slipped to number two behind Minneapolis in May.
The Tulsa World says it's cutting 50 jobs as it restructures under its new ownership in BH Media Group.
Publisher Bill Masterson announced the cuts Monday. Twelve positions were eliminated immediately in the administrative, information technology and production departments, while the remaining cuts will occur over the next several months.
