I have a couple of notes to share as we head into July.

Left, Right and Center is expanding from 30 minutes to an hour beginning on Saturday, July 15.

You’ll have to get up a little earlier to catch the whole program – it will start at 6:00 a.m.

StateImpact Oklahoma is going through a transition, too.

Logan Layden has left for another job after several years of solid reporting and hosting for KGOU and StateImpact.

Looking for some recommendations for weekend listening? Check out these award winning stories from NPR. The 2017 Edward R. Murrow Awards were announced this week and NPR won several for feature reporting, excellence in innovation and continuing coverage.

The 13th annual Americana Music Association Honors and Awards Show took place on Wednesday, Sept. 17, live from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

Americana figurehead Jim Lauderdale hosted the evening, backed by a house band featuring Buddy Miller, Don Was, Joachim Cooder, Tim Lauer, The McCrary Sisters, Brady Blade, and Ry Cooder.

KGOU and a journalism cooperative it leads, StateImpact Oklahoma, combined to sweep several categories of awards presented by the Society of Professional Journalists' Oklahoma Pro Chapter. The journalists' organization also honored KGOU General Manager Karen Holp as its Teacher of the Year for her work as adjunct faculty for the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord College of Journalism, teaching students who produce a program broadcast on KGOU.
