Most Oklahoma Colleges And Universities Raise Tuition

The University of Oklahoma's tuition raise is lower than the state average, but it's still the most expensive university per credit hour in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education approved tuition and fee increases for 23 of 25 Oklahoma's colleges and universities. School presidents presented their proposed increases before the regents Wednesday.

The average percentage increase for undergraduate resident tuition and mandatory fees is 5.8 percent, according to data provided by the Regents.

OSU Being Investigated By Federal Education Department

Oklahoma State University is one of 55 schools being investigated by the federal Education Department over their handling of sexual abuse complaints.

The schools are being investigated under Title IX, which prohibits gender discrimination but has been increasingly used by victims who say their schools failed to protect them. Federal officials say the schools were publicly identified to increase transparency and spur a broader conversation on campus sex assaults.

OSU Sexual Assault Court Hearing Delayed

A judge has rescheduled the arraignment for a former Oklahoma State University student accused of sexual assault.

Nathan Cochran was due in court Friday for an arraignment in Payne County, but a judge delayed that until Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. Cochran is charged with four counts of sexual battery and is accused of groping male students while they slept.

Cochran has pleaded not guilty. Affidavits filed in the case allege that the incidents occurred in August and November in 2012.

OSU Helping Its Inventors Go Commercial

A company owned by Oklahoma State University says it has secured $1.1 million in investment funding for work on arsenic removal technology that can be used in the real world.

The for-profit company, Cowboy Technologies, LLC, announced it closed on the funding for work at Associated Material Processing, a company with products that can remove arsenic from water systems.
