KGOU is consistently recognized for excellent journalism and news programs. Our staff and students have won awards from peer organizations including the Society of Professional Journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), Associated Press Broadcasters, Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI), and others.
KGOU has won awards for investigative, government, spot news, feature and general news reporting; long-form interviews and talk shows; and newscasts and special programs.
Over the past five years, KGOU has won 75 First Place awards in news categories, and has won the Oklahoma AP Broadcasters' Sweepstakes Award -- recognizing the radio station with the most awards -- seven of the last eight years.
