facebook

Author, poet and musician Joy Harjo is being inducted into the Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame next month.

Harjo, who is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, has written seven books of poetry. Her memoir, "Crazy Brave," was also recently published and received the Los Angeles Times 2013 book prize for creative nonfiction.

Harjo will be inducted on Oct. 8. The induction ceremony is a partnership between the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, the Route 66 Alliance and the OSU Library.

Special guests at the event will include Writers Hall of Fame members Rillia Askew and Michael Wallis.

The Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame honors writers who have made major contributors to America literature while living and writing in Oklahoma.
