The director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections says a privately operated prison where four inmates were killed remains on lockdown but that lockdowns at other state prisons have been lifted.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Robert Patton made the comments Monday, more than a week after a melee at the Cimarron Correctional facility in which four inmates died and four others were injured.

Patton says he has toured the facility three times since the Sept. 12 event and is pleased with the progress of the investigation and the staff's efforts to ensure a safe working environment. Patton says offenders at Cimarron remain confined mostly to their cells and movement inside the facility restricted.

Patton confirmed the disturbance involved a feud between the Universal Aryan Brotherhood and the Irish Mob.
