New Fiscal Year Begins

publicdomainpictures

This is the Manager’s Minute.

Summer is beginning, as KGOU’s fiscal year is ending.

KGOU operates on a July first through June thirtieth fiscal year.

This has been a year of transition and growth for the station, even as state funding has continued to shrink.

As part of higher education, KGOU’s annual appropriation has dropped almost 50-thousand dollars in the past couple of years, and more state cuts are possible.

The cumulative effects of year to year state cuts have forced us to find new ways to make up the difference, but still the most reliable method remains membership.

So, if you haven’t joined, we invite you to become a member of KGOU with a financial contribution.

You can donate online at KGOU.org.

And, if you’re already a member, we’d appreciate any additional support you can afford, to help us start the new fiscal year with a surge.

Thanks again.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 25 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November, 2016.
