Administrators and faculty at Norman High School are preparing for a protest by students upset with the handling of rape allegations.
Scott Beck, principal of Norman High School, said in a letter to parents that sexual assault victims' advocates were organizing the Monday protest after an alleged rape involving two students that occurred off campus two months ago.
Beck said in the letter the school "took the strongest disciplinary action against the alleged assailant" and the Norman Police Department was investigating.
Norman Public Schools Superintendent Joe Siano said in a letter Sunday additional Norman Police officers will be on campus today due to threats against Beck.
A group of students started a social media campaign on behalf of three female Norman High students who alleged they had been raped by the same male student.
According to the group’s Facebook page, Yes All Daughters, the protest is in response to the school's lack of appropriate action after an alleged rape victim complained of bullying she experienced from other students when a video of the rape was passed among students.
The protest will likely start Monday morning at 9:20 when students will walk out of their classes. The effort is promoted as a silent protest of bullying and sexual harassment.
