The Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System notched what its investment consultants called “tremendous” returns in fiscal year 2014 but those gains are “not sustainable,” members of the Board of Trustees were told.
Figures presented to the trustees and to the Oklahoma Pension Oversight Committee show the fund returned 22.4 percent in FY2014. That made it the highest returning retirement plan among the state’s seven plans.
It also put it in the top one percent of similar plans in the country, according to NEPC, LLC, the oversight commission’s investment consultant.
OTRS Investment Consultant Greg Weaver called the 2014 returns “tremendous.” However, he said that such returns are “not sustainable.”
Doug Anderson, also with Gregory W. Group, the investment consultant firm, added, “It’s likely we will not see this again.”
