Friday night thousands of supporters turned out at the Oklahoma State Fair for a 40-minute speech by Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
Oklahoma violinist Kyle Dillingham and 12-year-old Internet sensation Olivia Kay entertained the crowd with the requested Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down To Georgia," and a powerful version of Etta James' "At Last." A rescued bald eagle named Uncle Sam was brought out for the Pledge of Allegiance. Kay then sang the national anthem, and a the PA blasted a three-song medley of ZZ Top's "Sharp-Dressed Man," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," and finally Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of Puccini's "NessunDorma" from the opera Turnadot. Trump took the stage shortly afterward.
Before the campaign stop, dozens of protesters rallied, held signs, and chanted "dump Trump" at the intersection of NW 10th Street and May Ave. just outside the State Fairgrounds. The demonstration was organized by DREAM Act Oklahoma City in response to Trump's outspoken stance on immigration.
