Spring Semester Begins at KGOU

The spring semester of 2013 has begun and we have a new group of students learning the craft of storytelling and audio production.

In our largest Radio News class ever, we have 9 students: Joey Adams, Kate Carlton, Brett Coppenbarger, Cailey Dougherty, Kiana King, Brant Morrell, Ana Nospal, Ajinur Setiwaldi, and Hayley Thornton. Their first stories will come to the air on Assignment: Radio on March 10th.

In Radio Practicum class is Hunter Clausen.

Among our paid student staff, we have three returning students: Stephanie Pham in the Development Department; Colin Tyler hosting All Things Considered, and Meredith Everitt as producer and host of Assignment: Radio. New to the KGOU staff is Kate Carlton who is taking over the community calendar work from graduating senior, Paige Willett.

Please welcome Kate to the staff, and welcome all our new students for this semester!

Thanks!  From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield. She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1979 to become General Manager of KRWG-FM.
