With upcoming events  at Lake Arcadia, the Myriad Botanical Gardens and Chesapeake Energy Arena, central Oklahoma shows off a few of its most impressive venues in the week ahead.

Boys and girls have the opportunity for a back country blast with Ma and Pa this weekend.

The conservation group Central Oklahoma Quail Forever hosts its inaugural WhistlerFest at Lake Arcadia Saturday, July 19.

Entertaining the Hours of Your Week: Performance Previews

Disney on Ice comes to the Oklahoma State Fair September 12-22.

This week’s OneSix8 brings performances of three different kinds: some State Fair entertainment, a classic Shakespearean work, and a 1939 comedic play. 

The Oklahoma State Fair returns to Oklahoma City beginning this Thursday with opening ceremonies at 5:00 p.m. The annual event includes the classic fair food, carnival rides and wacky reptile exhibits, but the State Fair also brings a team of talented performers to entertain attendees.

Entertaining the Hours of Your Week With Songs, Shakespeare And A (Book) Signing

On this week’s OneSix8, I bring you a summer jazz festival, a Shakespearian play set in Vienna, Virginia in 1969, and a panel discussion with an award-winning author and photographer. Let’s get started.

When Jazz in June first started in 1984, it drew 300 people. Thirty years later, the annual festival plans to attract over 50,000 people. Jazz enthusiasts can hear musicians like Oklahoma native Parker Millsap as well as renowned guitarist Duke Robillard June 20 – 22 at Andrews Park, Brookhaven Village, and the Performing Arts Studio in Norman.

Trio of OKC Theater Companies Takes Cooperation Earnestly

Three Oklahoma City theater groups are joining together for a production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.

The leaders of City Rep, Oklahoma City University’s School of Theater and Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park have combined their resources to bring the classic play to OCU’s Burg Theater April 5-14.
